Fitzgerald Futurity & Derby JULY 24, 25, 26, 2009 A large attendance is expected , with riders from all over Western Canada as well as [parts of the U.S.A competing over three days. The Fitzgerald Futurity & Derby is a annual event. Fitzgerald Derby The derby will be open to horses age 7 or younger. Competing in derbies allows horses to hone their skills among their peers. These horses generally go on to be open horses and rodeo barrel horses. Cash and other prizes, such as horse blankets, tack and equipment are awarded. Open Barrel Competition In addition to the Futurity and Derby, we are pleased to host an open barrel race competition, with both a youth division and a adult division. The open competition will increase entries and attendance, including more local talent. Cash and other prizes are awarded.
